Count on an Easy Journey to Park City
No matter what your point of origin might be, making your way to Park City, Utah is bound to be a breeze. The vast majority of visitors who aren’t driving in on their own choose to fly into Salt Lake International Airport. This sits just 35 minutes from Park City center and there are shuttle options on-site into town if you want to leave a vehicle out of the equation altogether. Of course, if your travel plans include a lot of exploring while you’re here, there are options to book a rental car at the airport as well. For travelers who are flying in on smaller, private planes, local airports like the TAC Airport, Herber Valley Airport, and the Atlantic Aviation Airport are all options to consider.
Knowing How to Get Around Once You Arrive
Customizing your options for getting around once you arrive in Park City is just as simple as getting here to begin with. While Park City is brimming over with amazing options for fun year-round, all of that exciting entertainment is packed into a relatively compact city space. That means that no matter where you’re staying, you’re within reach of great resources and in some cases, even walkable distances to the slopes in the wintertime.
For those who are heading this way when the fresh powder falls specifically to enjoy time skiing, it’s good to keep in mind that destinations like Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort have comprehensive shuttle services available to get you where you’re going. If you choose to book a ski-in ski-out vacation rental option, you won’t have to worry about transportation at all!
Further out areas in town like Kimball Junction or Canyons Village are a bit easier to maneuver with a rental car. The same goes for travelers who are staying near the center of town but plan on spending time outside city limits to enjoy rugged hikes, climbing, or other adventures in nature. If you’re exclusively focusing your fun on the center of Park City, you can always consider using the efficient public bus system that’s in place. Just download the Park City mobile bus app before you arrive and easily track routes and arrival times at the touch of a button.
A Picture-Perfect Place to Enjoy Time Year-Round
There are some activities that consistently draw visitors to Park City in all seasons with good reason. The terrain here showcases a combination of lush valleys and towering mountains, making it easy to find new places to explore every time you’re here. Winter travelers typically head this way to make the most of their time at Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley Resort respectively. Park City Mountain Resort is the largest of the two and is open for skiing and snowboarding. You’ll also enjoy access to lessons, gear rentals, and great lodges for warming up and enjoying delicious meals. Over at Deer Valley, Park City travelers can enjoy time in a ski-exclusive resort with limited lift passes to ensure space for everyone to ski freely and comfortably. This resort also hosts lessons on-site as well as quality gear rentals and lodges to explore. Beyond the slopes, Park City is a place for winter travelers to add options like snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, sleigh rides, and snowmobiling to their itineraries.
Spend Time Participating in Events in Every Season
Park City is a place that knows how to celebrate, and in every season, visitors will find options to enjoy local gatherings, events, and festivities. One of the most highly anticipated of them all is the annual Sundance Film Festival which happens in January. This creative experience takes over Main Street for around 10 days at a time and is a must for film buffs of all ages. Those with a heart for downhill competitions will want to plan their Park City stay for February when the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup arrives. During this event, you’ll be treated to opportunities to see some of the world’s most talented freestyle skiers put their skills to work. It’s always a thrilling and inspiring experience for spectators and athletes alike.
As ski season begins to wind down in Park City in April, the fun is just beginning with Spring Gruv. This seasonal event includes pond skimming and slope-side activities meant to ring in the end of ski season in style. If you happen to miss Sundance, you can still make the most of cinema-focused fun in Park City in April when the Wasatch Film Festival arrives.
By June, Savor The Summit has come to Park City, giving visitors and locals alike a chance to enjoy fantastic food and beverage options along Main Street. August is a time for creative inspiration at the Kimball Arts Festival while September is celebrated with an event that sends more than 20 hot air balloons up at a time in an experience known as Autumn Aloft. Oktoberfest is a fantastic event to add to your itinerary in October while the annual Torchlight Parade at Deer Valley is a local tradition you won’t want to miss in December.

A trip to Park City is a dream come true for food enthusiasts who are looking to try as much local fare as possible. While it would be impossible to hit up every spot in town in one go, there are a few must-try destinations that are worth adding to your agenda every time you’re here.
Bartolo’s Park City is the perfect place to find yourself when you’re in the mood for an elegant setting and authentic Italian classics. Entrees like seasonal risotto and cioppino are always a delight and the global wine list at Bartolo’s Park City is equally impressive. From the chicken parmigiana to the Idaho trout almondine, this is a stop that will bring you back a time or two.
If you’re looking for a Restaurant Row stop featuring fantastic American cuisine during your Park City stay, Hearth and Hill is sure to thrill. Located at 1153 Center Drive, Hearth and Hill is a group-friendly eatery in town complete with spacious booths and a vibrant bar to enjoy in good company. The handcrafted cocktails are often a highlight here while main dish selections like ahi poke, curry farro, and steak frites are mouthwatering every time you order.
For some added spice to your culinary lineup, don’t overlook time well spent at Dos Olas Cantina. Located in Canyons Village, this is an eatery you can ski right into and enjoy flavorful and authentic Mexican cuisine. Whether you go for the barbacoa nachos, cauliflower con mole, or the custom tacos, you’ll want to be sure to pair it with a house margarita crafted with mezcal tequila.
Hidden Gem Stops to Discover
While many travelers head to Park City in the name of ski-focused fun, not everyone is aware that if you set your sights on time at Deer Valley Resort, there are options to participate in their Ski with a Champion program. If you’re looking to take your skills to the next level, there’s no better way to do so than alongside a pro. This program gives skiers a chance to take a lesson with an Olympian and go through the paces that lead to greatness. Afterward, head over to Alpine Distilling at 350 Main. Yes, this is a great destination no matter when you drop by, but those in the know come here to enjoy a cocktail and a gin-making experience. If you sign up for a gin-making experience on-site, you’ll enjoy concocting your own custom gin using an array of botanicals to choose from. Many patrons prefer to settle in and enjoy a four-course meal while they’re waiting for their gin to bask.
For travelers who are looking to get out and exercise during their Park City stay, there’s far more to do here than simply hit the hiking trails. While the routes that wind their way through and around the city are well worth exploring, you can feel free to switch things up in a unique way when you partner up with local companies like Park City Yoga Adventures. This one-of-a-kind enterprise offers locals and visitors access to innovative yoga experiences like stand-up paddleboard yoga at Homestead Crater. This geothermal spring sits within a crater dating back 10,000 years and is a perfect place to work on balance, relax, and even go for a soak or swim afterward. Park City Yoga Adventures also offers yoga silks courses where you can activate your body and mind at Blue Sky Ranch. You’ll find your inner Zen as you learn to navigate silk swatches and stretch, twist, and flow in style.
Must Try Outdoor Activities Beyond Skiing to Enjoy When the Snow Falls
Yes, the Park City ski resorts are idyllic but winter in this vacation destination offers up even more! If you’re looking for something new to add to the list, consider fat tire biking while you’re in town. If you’re someone who loves to explore on two wheels and you don’t want to give up the fun just because of some snow, this is your ideal solution. While you can certainly rent a specialized bike and explore the Wasatch Mountain Range on your own, the team over at White Pine Touring has custom-guided outings available to book as well. They also offer guided snowshoe outings when you want to slow things down and take time to enjoy wildlife watching along the way. For a more romantic take on the experience, consider booking one of their thrilling sunrise or full moon tours.
When you’re looking for a new view on it all, don’t forget that hot air balloon rides are offered in Park City year-round. There’s no reason not to book a flight and enjoy views over the snowy terrain from a bird’s eye vantage point.
Luxurious Stops Locals Love Too
When you want to enjoy a luxurious Park City stay like a local, there are places to be sure to check out. Wine lovers won’t want to miss a tasting session at the Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley Resort. Here, you have access to a talented sommelier working within Utah’s largest wine cellar! This impressive on-site collection showcases 1,500 selections across more than 18,000 bottles. It’s fair to say there’s no shortage of fantastic options that await. Afterward, treat yourself to an elevated spa experience at the Waldorf Astoria Spa. From facials and wraps to aromatherapy, massage, and hot stone treatments, you’ll leave feeling and looking your absolute best.
Finally, at least one evening of your stay, make time for a performance at the historic Egyptian Theatre. This is a mecca for live entertainment and cinema in the city and a great place to enjoy everything from movies and drama to dance, comedy, concerts, and beyond.

Head Out on the Trail
A free and fun thing to do all year round is to go hiking in Park City, Utah. Although you have to pay for ski passes, snowboard lessons, rentals, and lift passes in the winter months to access the mountains, the summer is the best time to soak in the views, get in a great workout, and push yourself by taking full advantage of the free trials, hiking paths, and lakes surrounding Park City.
If you are in the mood for a short and easy/medium trail to get started on your vacation, then we recommend going on the Bloods Lake Trail. This easy 2.7-mile trail takes approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on your speed and pacing. We love this trail since it is popular all year long due to the pristine weather in the springtime, bright sunny days in the summer, changing leaves in the fall, and crisp breeze in the later months. Bring your kids because they will love the rock scrambling at the end and the adventure of climbing over and under rocks to reach the final destination!
For those who are intense trail runners, or cyclists or enjoy all-day hiking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps, we recommend going on the Wasatch Crest Trail. This long and exciting trail provides expansive vows over nearby bright blue lakes, rolling hillsides, far-away peaks, and lush green pine forests. This hard trail takes around 8 hours and 30 minutes, so make sure you bring snacks, emergency gear, and layers during this trip. You can enjoy solitude and become one with nature as you travel on this long and picturesque trail during your stay in Park City.
Large groups, families, and solo travelers alike all love the Gambel Oak Loop if you are new to hiking or are traveling with kids. This 4-mile loop trail only takes around two hours to complete and offers a gentle incline and easy terrain for those who are interested in a fast and simple walk with their friends. You can even head here in the wintertime to bring your snowshoes and experience the winter wonderland! We love this trail for bringing kids and pups to check out the expensive views and the changing leaves on the trees.
Lastly, we love going on Jenny’s Trail if you only have time for one last hike before going back home. This iconic trail offers far-reaching views of the red rocks and provides a little bit of shade during the hot summer months. We love the changing terrain, ample parking, and mountain biking opportunities.
Head to the Montage
If you are out and about on a cold and brisk night, you might need some warming up. Grab your blanket and head to the Montage to make some smores! We love this family-friendly activity to warm up, tell stories, bond with one another, and meet other people in the area. You can bring your own drinks and snuggle under one of the blankets any time between 4-5 pm in the winter months or 8-9 during the warmer summer season.
Check out Canyons Village
Canyons Village is one of the most popular destinations in Park City, and you will soon see why! Head here to take a trip on the ‘Cab,’ as the locals call it, and enjoy your spin around the town.
Listen to Live Music
There is tons of live music happening all year round in Park City, and most of it is free! We love going to the park City Mountain to listen to musicians and bands sing their hearts out and hear the crowd sing along. You can also go to Canyons Village to listen to local musicians and sit outside while you have an al fresco dinner and watch the sunset. There is no better way to end the day!
Admire Utah Olympic Park
The Utah Olympic Park is an incredible sight to see that is a must-visit for all newbies in the area. Even if you go here just once to take pictures, it really is a sight for sore eyes. The winding road brings you to the top of the park, where you can watch the zip lining, ski jumping, tubing, and extreme sports as you sit outside and soak in the far-reaching views.
If you want, you can spend a rainy afternoon inside the Alf Engen Ski Museum to see the history of skiing in the area or learn more about the Olympic Games. Admission to this museum, and the Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum, are free, so you never have to worry about spending a penny.

Fourth of July Celebration
There is no better reason to go away for the weekend than to celebrate the Fourth of July! We love this holiday for patriotism, bright colors, good vibes, and a family-friendly atmosphere.
The Fourth of July celebrations here in Park City are second to none, featuring a large pancake and coffee breakfast that is sure to give you enough fuel for the entire day, 5k to help burn off some of those breakfast calories, and parade so I can see the people who make the community what it really is, sports tournaments to bring out your inner athlete, live music to dance along all day long, and an afternoon barbecue with some of the tastiest sandwiches you will ever have!
Whether you are staying in one of our cabins right in the heart of the town or up in the mountains, we recommend coming to the city for activities and the parade on Main Street. Afterward, you can continue your day of nature exploring, such as horseback riding, hiking, biking, and much more.
Friday Gallery Strolls
The last Friday of every month is the Gallery Stroll from 6 PM – 9 PM. This takes place along the historic main street of Park City and participating galleries will roll out the “red carpet” for you to come check out their work. It will be an evening of art, food, drinks, and music with beautiful views of this beautiful town. So if you’re here at the end of the month during the summer (or actually any month of the year) you’re sure to enjoy a Gallery Stroll.
Summer Concert Series
Nothing quite says ‘summer’ like live music, family-friendly activities, and good vibes. We love going to the Summer Concert Series at Deer Valley to listen to the Utah Symphony Orchestra and marvel at the beauty of the Snow Park outdoor Amphitheater. This outdoor amphitheater is built right into the mountain, so you will be able to marvel at this unique architecture and open-air space that is one of the most unique concert venues you will ever attend.
Park Silly Sunday Market
Are you interested in purchasing some fresh produce, checking out local vendors, and spending time with your families? If so, head to the Park Silly Sunday Market! We love this farmer’s market that has nearly 200k visitors every single year; this event features dozens of vendors, bright sunshine, good vibes, and fresh produce that we like for making dinner in your modern kitchen. This event runs every Sunday during the summer months from 10 am to 5 pm.
The Kimball Arts Festival
If you come to Park City during the later summer months, you will be able to attend the Kimball Arts Festival in early August. This is one of the events in Park City that has been going on for over 50 years, featuring local artwork, artists, and unique sculptures that will make you feel like a real-life art critic. We love how the festival features access to numerous events, such as the kid’s art and play area, live music venues, The Art Starts Here Gala, The Studio on Main, and The Festival After Dark.
Labor Day
Last but not least, savor the last minutes of summer with a Labor Day celebration! We love coming to Park City for this famous holiday with the numerous activities, fun outdoor things to do, community events, and much more. Attend the early morning pancake breakfast, costume 5k fun run, and view the adrenaline-pounding Running of the Balls. Yes, you heard that right! This fun take on words features thousands of gold balls that roll down the hill of Park City.
If your golf ball gets first, you win! You can then attend the outdoor parade, check out the family-friendly games, watch the skating competition, and ogle at the mucking and drilling competition — after all, it IS called Miner’s Day here in Park City!
There are so many things to do during the 4th of July in Park City, UT! Not only can you do the typical activities that make this mountainous area so famous, like hiking, biking, and whitewater rafting, but there are annual events you can only attend once per year to make the most out of your fun-filled vacation.
Parade for the 4th of July in Park City
The parade that lines the streets of Park City brings out tourists and locals alike to celebrate and enjoy spending a few hours in the sun, waving at firefighters, ogling at cool costumes, and making use of the beautiful weather. This famous parade is on the 4th of July near Historic Main Street and City Park. Make sure you get here early so you can get a good seat for the parade!
The parade runs from 11 am to 5 pm, so we recommend claiming your spot around 10:30 am to obtain a great vantage point and set up a few chairs.
This fun parade and barbecue not only let locals clap for the people who make the city what it is, but it offers a 5K run, volleyball game, rugby games, kid-friendly things to do, live music from local musicians, and refreshments. Once the parade moves to Park City Mountain, you can head here to enjoy family activities, live music from hopping bands, and a yummy barbecue.
5K Fun Run
The 5K fun run is a huge hit during the 4th of July celebrations every year in Park City, UT! This Park City 4th of July 5K offers a fast and flat race that usually brings out upwards of 5,000 people for this exciting and fast run that offers beautiful surroundings. This 5K has proceeds that go to the Park City Ski and Snowboard athletes, so you can feel good about helping the local community.
Go Hiking!
You can go hiking all year round, but heading out for an early morning hike in the middle of July is the best way to see the sunrise, take advantage of the warm weather before it gets too hot, and beat the crowds. We love going on easy nature walks, waterfall excursions, and lung-busting peak hikes during our stay in Park City.
For beginners, we love the Gelnwild and Stealth Trail at Spring Creek Trailhead, which is located just a few minutes away from Kimball Junction in Park City. You can go for a walk or run on this well-marked trail and turn around whenever it suits your fancy. We love how this trail gets direct sun in the summer months, so you can get a tan and get in your 10,000 steps in!
For those who are a little more comfortable on the trails and in the wilderness, we can’t get enough of The Fink Again Loop. This beautiful and majestic loop is well-known for its flora and fauna, featuring wildflowers, large trees, and expansive views. Although this is relatively easy, the elevation gain of 133 meters is a good test for those who want to get a bit more of cardio exercise. If you want to step it up even more, we like the Solamere Loop high above the skyline.
If you are an expert hiker, there is so much for you to choose from here in Park City! Park City is home to breathtaking landscapes and dramatic landscapes that make you wonder why you have never been here before. We love the Armstrong trail for getting higher into the sky, as this trail offers over 750 feet of elevation gain and an amazing view of Park City down below.
We also love the Lofty Lakes Loop, a loop trail by the Pass Lake trailhead that is rocky and gradual in incline but well-marked, so you never feel like you are too far away from civilization.
Head to One of the Lakes
If you come to Park City during the hot summer months, we know that it is going to be extremely warm during the middle of the day! If you went for a hike this morning, you might feel like you need to cool off and relax. There is no better way to bring down your body temperature and ease your aching muscles than by hopping into an ice-cold lake in the middle of the day.
We love going to Jordanelle Reservoir, Deer Creek St. Park and Reservoir, Echo Reservoir, Rockport Reservoir, Bloods Lake, or Mirror Lake for swimming, playing in the water, kayaking, canoeing, or fishing.
As you can see, there are endless activities for you and your friends or family to do in Park City, UT, during the month of July. Not only can you take part in the parade and celebrations in the center of town, but you can make use of the beautiful weather, long days, and ample sunshine. Talk about the best vacation! Your mother has done so much for you over the years — now it is time for you to repay the favor! Instead of doing the same-old family get-together, brunch, or shopping trip with your mom, we have a better idea in mind. Why not go somewhere special where you can truly spend quality time with your loved ones, enjoy the great outdoors, and spend time in the bright and beautiful sunshine?
Sounds good, doesn’t it? We think so too! We are talking about Park City, Utah, an outdoors person’s paradise that features dozens of ski slopes, hiking trails, bike paths, mouthwatering restaurants, cool breweries, caffeine-laden cafes, and much more. We love coming here for special events, weekends away, and summers off of work to reconnect with nature and enjoy a healthy and exercise-filled time with our family or friends.
Let’s check out some of the top things to do for the bustling and exciting Mother’s Day weekend in Park City, and why we can guarantee you will have a relaxing and cozy time in one of the properties from Summit Luxury Vacations.
Enjoy Brunch
One of the most popular things to do during Mother’s Day weekend in Park City is to have a filling and hearty brunch. Luckily for you, there are a few options that are stand-outs from the rest when it comes to finding brunches and spreads that feature savory dishes, sweet treats, never-ending coffee, cocktails, and great ambiance for the entire family.
Firstly, we recommend checking out The Eating Establishment, a modern and upscale eatery that features extravagant dishes like Eggs Benedict with savory breakfast potatoes, French Toast for a sweet, nostalgia-inspired dish, and a pork hash skillet for those who want a meaty breakfast to keep them full all day long! Plus, with some avocado toast, you can really tick all of your boxes.
Secondly, another good option for a Mother’s Day treat is Hearth and Hill, featuring an exquisite and detailed menu that features vegetarian plates, complicated dishes, and vegan options for you and your family. We recommend getting one of the H and H Burgers or a smothered breakfast burrito.
Lastly, another great choice for those who want a brunch that your mother is going to talk about for weeks on end is Five 5eeds. This restaurant is famous all year round for tourists and locals alike — and you will soon find out why! We recommend ordering their specials – Çilbir – Turkish Eggs or the Fragrant Chicken Noodle Soup. You’re also sure to enjoy these foods from the breakfast menu – the pulled pork benedict or the Perc’s granola parfait. Lastly, if you’re looking for something more hearty try these from their lunch menu – the fried chicken sando or the pork belly bao buns. You can get a little bit of everything here!
Head Out for a Hike
Another cool thing to do during your Mother’s Day weekend with your family is to go for a hike! If the snow has finally melted and you want to get into the great outdoors to see the sights and sounds of nature, then we have a few suggestions for you. First, the Glenwild and Stealth Trail at Spring Creek Trailhead is the ideal option for beginners who have small kids with them. If you want another easy option for a post-brunch walk, then we recommend going to McLeod Creek Trail to soak in the sights of the incredible desert!
For a harder choice, you can’t go wrong with the Bloods Lake Trail or Armstrong Trail. Despite this trail not being very long or difficult, Bloods Lake is a fair hike that includes some scrambling up boulders, switchback girls to help elevate your heart rate, and the option of adding another spur trail to Lackawaxen Lake higher up for an amazing viewpoint. You can also head to Armstrong Trail for a famous and well-known option that is popular among tourists and locals alike. We recommend bringing a snack or some lunch and taking off on this nearly 4-mile trail that features bright flowers, aspen trees, and incredible views of the nearby Park City town.

Another fun thing to do during a rainy or cold day is to check out the numerous shops that frequent the downtown area of Park City. You can go shopping for niche items or see if you can find some souvenirs to bring home for your friends who are at home. We love going to the numerous boutiques for high-end items, going shopping for vintage clothing on Historic Main Street, or getting a great deal on some brand-name clothes at the Outlets at Park City
Get a Filling Brunch!
There is no shortage of breakfast and brunch spots in Park City that will make you full for the rest of the day and rave about savory eggs or sweet French Toast for your entire vacation! Some of our favorites are right in the downtown area, so you can easily walk here on foot from your handy accommodation.
One of our top choices is The Eating Establishment, a down-home diner that has been a Park City staple for 50 years! We love the breakfast sandwich on a brioche bun with garlic aioli, corned beef hash and eggs skillet with fried onions, or the biscuits and gravy to fill you up before you go shopping in the rainy weather. If you are in the mood for something sweet, the wide choice of pancakes and French toast is perfect for those who want something a little dessert-like to start the day!
At The Bridge Cafe and Grill, you can get no-fuss plates for a low price that is perfect for a quick breakfast or a filling brunch with the family. We love breakfast staples like the Brazuca omelet with your choice for five fillings, pancakes with powdered sugar and whipped butter, Cristo Redentor with ham and cheese, or the Brioche Breakfast with scrambled eggs, strong Havarti cheese, and fresh avocado.
We also love going to Five5eeds during our vacations in Park City. If you are in the mood for something a bit more eclectic and modern, then head here on Snow Creek Drive to try something a little different than the typical eggs and bread dish. We love getting one of the Specials that frequently rotate according to what is in season and available in the area — talk about farm-to-table! One of the most popular dishes right now in the cold weather is the local mushrooms, crispy polenta, and thyme pangrattato with shiitake mushrooms and polenta cake.
If you are in the mood for something light before you go for a hike, you can’t go wrong with ‘The Merperson’ Smoothie Bowl with spirulina, coconut milk, banana granola, coconut flakes, blueberry, and passion fruit. For an all-day breakfast dish that will surely fill you up until dinner, we love the pulled pork benedict with apple cider hollandaise sauce, Shakshuka with Moroccan eggs and feta, or PC Superfood bowl with rice, quinoa, broccolini, beets, and hummus.
