Day 1

Begin day one of your nature and wildlife-focused journey to Park City with a trip to the scenic and inviting Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. Geocaching is another popular activity in this area that visitors pair with wildlife watching and hiking.

After your time at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, link up with one of the professionals in town at White Pine Touring to enjoy a customized trek that fits your outdoor style perfectly! At White Pine Touring, you can reserve your place on a group or private hike that centers around trails in town, those out in the wilderness, or routes that take you through historic stops. Wilderness tours focus on routes through the Uinta National Forest just 45 minutes from Park City. When you choose this option, you’ll explore beautiful high-alpine environments and amazing views across a space that encompasses no less than 2.2 million protected acres! If you go with the historic Park City hiking tour, your guide will lead you on a route through town that tells the story of Park City’s silver mining past. You’ll gain insight into how the city transitioned to a popular ski destination and end the tour with a stop at the Park City Museum.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at The Cabin on Main Street. Found at 427 Main Street, The Cabin serves up delicious American classic dishes in a welcoming setting as well as world-class beers and handcrafted cocktails. The rustic décor here is as appealing as the vast options to choose from on the delicious menu!

Day 2

It’s easy to think of time in nature as something exclusively enjoyed on a hiking or biking trail. However, on day two of your journey to Park City with a focus on nature and wildlife in Park City, you can get a new perspective on connecting with the outdoors when you book a session through Park City Yoga Adventures. The team here proudly provides locals and visitors alike with an opportunity to get outside, breathe deep, and connect with your surroundings in mindful balance. They specialize in organizing unforgettable outdoor yoga experiences ranging from yoga sessions paired with hikes, snowshoeing, silks sessions, or paddleboarding. Guests can choose to enjoy paddleboard yoga in a hot spring or pair a yurt meditation session with yoga in nature. Either way, it’s a chance to relax, unwind and find a sense of divine balance in the beauty of Park City’s natural landscapes.

After a refreshing yoga session or two, make time for bird watching in Park City this afternoon. They’re open from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm daily and guests can pick and choose between a light breakfast or a hearty brunch depending on preference. After breakfast or brunch, you’ll head over to Deer Valley Resort for another day of well-deserved adventures on the slopes of Park City. While this ski stop is by no means small, it can sometimes see fewer crowds than Park City Mountain Resort giving guests a more exclusive feeling of tranquility when the fresh powder falls. Here, you’ll enjoy a welcoming ski experience complete with a limited number of skiers allowed at one time on the mountain and top-notch customer service too.  The lifts offer up spectacular views and there are also options here to take another ski lesson if you’re not quite ready to hit the slopes on your own.

After your downhill fun comes to an end, be sure to swing by the Deer Valley Café just downhill from the resort. This market-style stop is the perfect place to pick up a coffee and a sweet treat to top off your day in a delicious way.

Have Your Dinner for Thanksgiving in Park City

Luckily for you, there are dozens of dining options when you spend Thanksgiving in Park City. Instead of going to the grocery store and having to make the turkey yourself, which can be time-consuming and stressful, you can go to one of the many restaurants, cafes, and bars to enjoy the culinary holiday without having to spend hours and hours in the kitchen yourself.

From the typical classic Thanksgiving turkey-filled meal with cranberry sauce and gravy to healthier options and more ethnic cuisine, we offer something for everyone in Park City. With numerous offerings, it can sometimes be hard to figure out where to go, when to go, and how to make reservations. That’s where we come in handy!

First is first — are you in the mood for a meat-centric holiday dinner that offers turkey, beef, sheep, chicken, and everything in between? If so, then head to the Butcher’s Chop House to get a traditional turkey feast or a mouthwatering steak that will have meat lovers rejoicing. The Butcher’s Chop House offers a whole heap of turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, and candied yams with your choice of pie for just $55!

Secondly, Flanagan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant has an Irish take on the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Who said the Irish can’t cook? Not us! The Irish have always been good at slow-roasting meats and churning out tons of potatoes for dinner every single night of the week, and this is no different. Head to Flanagan’s for a classic turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, brown gravy, and green beans for just $39.

If you are in the mood for something that is more flexible than the typical turkey dinner, Flanagan’s is the perfect spot for you. The famous holiday menu here offers two protein options, salad, three sides, and dessert that is sure to leave you filled for the rest of the day! And don’t worry — no matter what you choose, you will be able to get cheddar cheese biscuits with melted butter, bacon jam to spread on the savory bread, and cranberry chutney for a sweet addition.

Are you not really in the mood for the typical Thanksgiving dinner? Don’t worry — sometimes you just want a hardy American meal, and we totally understand. Head to Grub Steak Restaurant to do just that — eat some of the best grub in the entire state! Grub offers steak, lobster, flame-grilled options, shrimp, and lobster that are all savory and mouth-watering choices we think will leave your stomach happy for hours and hours on end.

And if you are usually on holiday to Europe this year, but need to cut costs, Courchevel Bistro will have you feeling like you are in the middle of Paris or Rome this upcoming holiday weekend! Courchevel offers its unique take on the traditional dinner with a healthy salad, roasted pumpkin, pomegranate sauce, huckleberry sauce, trio dessert, and candied walnuts. We love this healthy and Euro-centric option for vegetarians and ‘picky’ eaters.

Lastly, Park City is home to some of the best returns in the entire state — and Hearth and Hill is popular enough for people from all over Utah, and the West Coast, to flock here all year round. Hearth and Hill is one of the city’s premier restaurants that offers pick-up dishes for you to enjoy at your home on Thanksgiving, along with a hearty and filling meal that you can dine in with your family. This American restaurant has a traditional turkey dinner, featuring a 12-pound turkey, stuffing, cheddar biscuits, Refuel Salad, and even more!

Plus, as an added treat after your Thanksgiving meal, you can get dessert to take back home to your kids for a few sweet treats before bed. Deer Valley Bakery offers Thanksgiving desserts that are the perfect addition to the savory turkey and gravy. We recommend getting a few of the apple pie desserts, carrot cake, chocolate chip cookies, and vanilla cream slices.

Painted white cabinets, white marble countertops, and a large center island with 4 barstools make this room feel like a family home and the double gas range makes it easy to cook for the entire gang!

The Space You Crave

Bedrooms with fireplaces, private sitting areas, and televisions nearly as large as the ones in the public spaces provide a haven of tranquility, and ensuite baths with marble tile and deep soaking tubs (1 placed under a window that frames the snowcapped mountains perfectly!) help ease the transition between wide awake and very happily asleep! The bunk room with 2 full over full bunk beds provides an idyllic escape for cousins, siblings, and friends of all ages, and California Kings in 3 out of the 5 bedrooms ensure there is plenty of elbow room for restless sleepers!

Closets the size of bedrooms offer room to hold all your luggage and the treasures you have purchased during shopping expeditions in Park City and a second living room/game room/kitchen will give multiple families vacationing together their own private retreat! (Share the games though; those are for everyone!) High-speed internet allows for practically glitch-free virtual meetings in the office space which also provides a shredder for any important papers you no longer need and a fitness room is equipped with everything you need for a good workout.

A laundry room with cabinets, countertops, and a laundry sink proves that our attention to detail doesn’t end at the glamorous stuff and a ski storage area helps keep skis and winter gear tucked away until needed for use! Are you planning to visit Park City around Halloween? It’s a great time to visit the area! Read on below to see everything you need to know about Halloween in Park City.

Fun Run Event for Halloween in Park City

Just because you are here in Park City on a holiday, this doesn’t mean you have to let your fitness and health go by the wayside! Fortunately for you, not only can you go hiking, white water rafting, biking, and bird watching, but you can also take part in a community Fun Run event right in the heart of Park City. This is a great way for you to see the sights of the downtown area of Park City, meet other like-minded people, and feel good about yourself before you gorge on candy later in the day!

The Fun Run is on Saturday, October 29th, 2023, at 10 AM. Wake up and grab yourself a cup of coffee at one of the numerous cafes downtown and head to the starting line. You can easily find the start of the race by just following the herd of people in colorful Halloween gear and costumes!

Bring Your Kids to the Costume Swap

Teaching your kids the importance of giving and charity is a great way to make them appreciate what they have! We recommend heading to the local Park City Library to pick up some books, read a few stories, and exchange a book while you are here. You can bring in some of your homemade Halloween costumes and take part in a costume swap. Between September 29th and October 1st, the Park City Library offers a costume swap that lets you donate your kids’ and adult costumes for a gently used one this Halloween! Become a part of the community this holiday season and feel good about yourself by helping give back.

Head Out on the Hiking Trails

One thing to keep in mind this holiday season is that the hiking trails can be quite crowded. We recommend going hiking on one of the numerous beautiful paths early in the morning to avoid the crowds, later in the day, (with sufficient knowledge of the trail and headlamps) or taking lesser-known trails to avoid tons of crowds. There are really popular spots that everyone visits—like Silver Lake Trail, for good reason—but they can be too crowded on holiday weekends. Instead, check these out.

First up, we recommend starting with Yeti’s to Moose Puddle hike. This exciting trail starts at the beginning of Olympic Parkway in Utah Olympic Park and winds you 6 miles up the trail. This is one of the best hikes for you to soak in the pristine views, see the changing of the leaves up close and personal, smell the aspen trees as you walk along, and see incredible viewpoints of Murdock.

The second option for a fun and exciting trail that avoids tons of crowds is the Snow Top Loop. This trail starts at the Lower Deer Valley Resort Lot and the Solamere trailhead. We love these 3-mile trails for beginner hikers who want to get out in nature and escape the loud noises, music playing, and slow walkers! As soon as you start the hike, you will get a bit of a workout as you walk more than 300 feet upwards over the Jordanelle Reservoir and Park City Mountain Resort.

Lastly, we love taking the IO Trail and Charlie’s 9K trail starting at Bloods Lake Trailhead or Bonanza Flat Trailhead. This unique option of a combination of trails varies, so you can choose where you want to start and how you want to extend your adventure. If you want to avoid people, start at the Bonanza Flat Trailhead and begin your hike through the trees toward Jupiter Peak — the snow-capped mountain will truly take your breath away!

Make a Dinner Reservation

After a long day of hiking, the best thing to do is get a bite to eat. During Halloween in Park City, when tourists are here to enjoy the Halloween events, party, and drink all day long, it is best to make a dinner reservation so you and your guests are not kept waiting for hours at the door! We recommend checking out Handle for an American classic that offers tasty and local food with hefty portions and a fun ambiance. If you are in the mood for fine dining for a special occasion, like a date with your partner, Riverhorse on Main offers up fresh flavors, local produce, interesting flavor combinations, refined plating, and an upscale ambiance that we love for a weekend out on the town.

Other local favorites include Chop Shop, a casual and laid-back sandwich spot that offers the infamous Butler Dip with Swiss cheese, beef, and caramelized onions, Corona Italian Cafe with the best gnocchi in the world, and Twisted Fern, with a healthy and hearty weekend lunch.

Planning a fall trip to Park City? You can enjoy many of the most enjoyable Park City fall activities without breaking the bank! Read on to see how to enjoy a budget-friendly fall journey to Park City.

Head Out on the Trail

A free and fun thing to do all year round is to go hiking in Park City, Utah. Although you have to pay for ski passes, snowboard lessons, rentals, and lift passes in the winter months to access the mountains, the summer is the best time to soak in the views, get in a great workout, and push yourself by taking full advantage of the free trials, hiking paths, and lakes surrounding Park City.

If you are in the mood for a short and easy/medium trail to get started on your vacation, then we recommend going on the Bloods Lake Trail. This easy 2.7-mile trail takes approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on your speed and pacing. We love this trail since it is popular all year long due to the pristine weather in the springtime, bright sunny days in the summer, changing leaves in the fall, and crisp breeze in the later months. Bring your kids because they will love the rock scrambling at the end and the adventure of climbing over and under rocks to reach the final destination!

For those who are intense trail runners, or cyclists or enjoy all-day hiking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps, we recommend going on the Wasatch Crest Trail. This long and exciting trail provides expansive vows over nearby bright blue lakes, rolling hillsides, far-away peaks, and lush green pine forests. This hard trail takes around 8 hours and 30 minutes, so make sure you bring snacks, emergency gear, and layers during this trip. You can enjoy solitude and become one with nature as you travel on this long and picturesque trail during your stay in Park City.

Large groups, families, and solo travelers alike all love the Gambel Oak Loop if you are new to hiking or are traveling with kids. This 4-mile loop trail only takes around two hours to complete and offers a gentle incline and easy terrain for those who are interested in a fast and simple walk with their friends. You can even head here in the wintertime to bring your snowshoes and experience the winter wonderland! We love this trail for bringing kids and pups to check out the expensive views and the changing leaves on the trees.

Lastly, we love going on Jenny’s Trail if you only have time for one last hike before going back home. This iconic trail offers far-reaching views of the red rocks and provides a little bit of shade during the hot summer months. We love the changing terrain, ample parking, and mountain biking opportunities.

Head to the Montage

If you are out and about on a cold and brisk night, you might need some warming up. Grab your blanket and head to the Montage to make some smores! We love this family-friendly activity to warm up, tell stories, bond with one another, and meet other people in the area. You can bring your own drinks and snuggle under one of the blankets any time between 4-5 pm in the winter months or 8-9 during the warmer summer season.

Check out Canyons Village

Canyons Village is one of the most popular destinations in Park City, and you will soon see why! Head here to take a trip on the ‘Cab,’ as the locals call it, and enjoy your spin around the town.

Listen to Live Music

There is tons of live music happening all year round in Park City, and most of it is free! We love going to the park City Mountain to listen to musicians and bands sing their hearts out and hear the crowd sing along. You can also go to Canyons Village to listen to local musicians and sit outside while you have an al fresco dinner and watch the sunset. There is no better way to end the day!

Admire Utah Olympic Park

The Utah Olympic Park is an incredible sight to see that is a must-visit for all newbies in the area. Even if you go here just once to take pictures, it really is a sight for sore eyes. The winding road brings you to the top of the park, where you can watch the zip lining, ski jumping, tubing, and extreme sports as you sit outside and soak in the far-reaching views.

If you want, you can spend a rainy afternoon inside the Alf Engen Ski Museum to see the history of skiing in the area or learn more about the Olympic Games. Admission to this museum, and the Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum, are free, so you never have to worry about spending a penny.
