Park City is a popular destination all year round, but it really comes alive during the winter holiday season! Once the first snowfall hits the ground, the town comes alive with fresh powder, ski slopes, and live holiday music blasting from every pub and cafe in this pristine mountain escape. Featuring numerous community events, annual get-togethers, cool shops, mouthwatering restaurants, and holiday cheer, we think that Park City is the best spot to go to for a Christmas or holiday-themed escape during the cold months.
Make sure you pencil in these exciting events to your Park City Christmas calendar for your upcoming relaxing escape. Whether you are going with family or friends, we know you will have a blast!
Go Last Minute Park City Christmas Shopping
We know that things might be left until the last minute. Work is busy, school is hectic, and you run out of time to go Christmas shopping for your friends and family. But don’t worry! Park City has ample shopping for you to check out to grab some last-minute souvenirs or high-end items from nearby boutiques. Park City Main Street offers numerous stalls, private shops, Christmas-themed stores, and much more. We recommend walking along bustling Main Street any time after November 30th to find great stocking stuffers — plus, you can get a bite to eat or hot cocoa as you shop!
Take a Ride on The North Pole Express
All aboard! Bring the kids to Heber Valley Railroad any time in November or December to take a magical ride on the North Pole Express! This express train ride is a 90-minute delight that offers hot chocolate, cookies, and a gift from Santa Claus himself that makes the magic of this ride truly unforgettable.
Marvel at the Tree Lighting Ceremony
Right before the Christmas month kicks off, head to Canyons Village to watch the yearly Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 29th. Bring your camera, a flask of hot cocoa (or whisky!) and listen to the cheerful tunes. You can even pick up some unique arts and crafts from the nearby vendors and ogle at the bright fireworks lighting up the star-studded sky. Plus, make sure you bring your camera so you can take pictures of your kids sitting on Santa Claus’ lap!
Come See Santa Coming Down the Town Lift
No holiday season is complete without an appearance from Santa! We love going to see Santa come down the Town Lift every holiday season. Head to Town Lift Plaza to enjoy complimentary treats, photos with Santa, and live music presented by Mountain Town Music. The event is on December 17th and is the perfect way to get in the holiday.
Sing Your Favorite Tunes at the Park City Holiday Spectacular
Warm up your vocal cords and get ready to sing along to your favorite Christmas carols at the Park City Holiday Spectacular Sing-a-Long at the Egyptian Theatre! On December 13th and 14th, you can attend one of the most widely sought-after holiday events in the entire state, featuring a Sing-a-Long that is ideal for the whole family!
Attend a Second Show at the Egyptian Theater
If you can’t get enough of the Egyptian Theater ambiance, we recommend purchasing tickets for another show! That’s right, you can go to the sing-along and attend the Christmas with the Celts Christmas music show. For those who love Scottish dancing, Irish music, or just a good time, the Christmas with the Celts show on December 18th-20th is the best way to get in the holiday spirit.
Hit the Slopes!
Yes, we mean lace up your ski boots and test your luck at the green slopes and the black diamond runs, but we also mean going to the infamous Snow Fest at Park City Mountain! You can hit the slopes in more than one way when you vacation in this mountain-centric town of Park City this holiday season. Head to Snow Fest at Park City Mountain from December 20th to January 5th to see the Annual Torchlight Parade, visit Santa Claus, and see fireworks from one of the best viewpoints in the entire state!
Attend the Ballet
For musical theater lovers, Park City truly is the best spot to base yourself this holiday season.
