Park City, Utah is a destination packed with options for fun and new discoveries. When you’re looking forward to planning a stay here focused on the beauty of nature and the wonder of local wildlife, this three-day itinerary has it covered. Here’s how you can enjoy a Scenic Nature and Wildlife Journey to Park City

Day 1

Begin day one of your nature and wildlife-focused journey to Park City with a trip to the scenic and inviting Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. Situated near the Kimball Junction area just outside central Park City, the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is a perfect place to browse a variety of educational exhibits and displays or take part in hands-on learning activities too. Upon request, guests can enjoy a guided or self-guided tour of the preserve and center. When you head out to the preserve, you’ll be in the right place to set your sights on everything from elk and fox to Sandhill Cranes that call the area home. There are a variety of hiking trails to explore through the Preserve in the summer months but if your travels bring you this way in the winter, snowshoeing the trails is an option too. Geocaching is another popular activity in this area that visitors pair with wildlife watching and hiking.

After your time at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, link up with one of the professionals in town at White Pine Touring to enjoy a customized trek that fits your outdoor style perfectly! At White Pine Touring, you can reserve your place on a group or private hike that centers around trails in town, those out in the wilderness, or routes that take you through historic stops. Wilderness tours focus on routes through the Uinta National Forest just 45 minutes from Park City. When you choose this option, you’ll explore beautiful high-alpine environments and amazing views across a space that encompasses no less than 2.2 million protected acres! If you go with the historic Park City hiking tour, your guide will lead you on a route through town that tells the story of Park City’s silver mining past. You’ll gain insight into how the city transitioned to a popular ski destination and end the tour with a stop at the Park City Museum.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at The Cabin on Main Street. Found at 427 Main Street, The Cabin serves up delicious American classic dishes in a welcoming setting as well as world-class beers and handcrafted cocktails. The rustic décor here is as appealing as the vast options to choose from on the delicious menu!

Day 2

It’s easy to think of time in nature as something exclusively enjoyed on a hiking or biking trail. However, on day two of your journey to Park City with a focus on nature and wildlife in Park City, you can get a new perspective on connecting with the outdoors when you book a session through Park City Yoga Adventures. The team here proudly provides locals and visitors alike with an opportunity to get outside, breathe deep, and connect with your surroundings in mindful balance. They specialize in organizing unforgettable outdoor yoga experiences ranging from yoga sessions paired with hikes, snowshoeing, silks sessions, or paddleboarding. Guests can choose to enjoy paddleboard yoga in a hot spring or pair a yurt meditation session with yoga in nature. Either way, it’s a chance to relax, unwind and find a sense of divine balance in the beauty of Park City’s natural landscapes.

After a refreshing yoga session or two, make time for bird watching in Park City this afternoon. Head over to Rock Cliff at Jordanelle State Park where there have been at least 160 species of birds reported in the park’s parameters throughout the years. With binoculars in hand, you’ll have a chance to spot everything from local to migratory varieties as well as raptors like bald eagles and falcons.

This evening, make your way to the No Name Saloon & Annex Burger to relish a delicious dish. Located at 447 Main Street, the No Name Saloon is home to the infamous Buffalo Burger and has earned a reputation for great beer selections too.

Day 3

The final day of your nature and wildlife stay in Park City starts with a drive along the Guardsman Pass Scenic Byway. This route is spectacularly beautiful and takes you up and over Guardsman’s Pass along switchbacks paired with breathtaking views of nature. At the peak, you can pull over at the overlook and make time for a nature photography session.

If you’re heading to Park City with the kids on your nature and wildlife adventure, time at the Rundown Ranch Children’s Farm is always a good way to end the day. Found at 22 W. Boulderville Road in nearby Oakley, this is a place where you can enjoy time meeting buffalo, alpacas, and ostriches too! Whether you’re looking to pet ponies or pigs, you’ll find them all here.

Enjoy dinner at the Twisted Fern at 1300 Snowcreek Drive on your last evening in town. This is a refreshing eatery with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and innovative culinary twists that are sure to please!
